It is very important to eat enough to avoid both short term and long term consequences.
Some health problems:
Caloric and fat deficiency can cause dry skin, and hair to become brittle and fall out. One’s white blood cells can decrease and one’s immune system can be impacted.
+I definitely had thin and brittle hair. I also felt COLD like ALLLLLLL the time.
Hormone levels can drastically drop:
Sex hormones can decrease which can cause menstruation to not start at all , to become irregular, or to stop completely.
+I did lose my period and had to get medication to get it back (I had to go to the doctor with my mom and tell them my situation)
Lowered sex hormones also leads to bone loss (known as osteopenia and osteoporosis) and the risk of broken bones and fractures increase.
+I easily got bruises and whenever I hit something I felt SO MUCH PAIN.
Impacts on the brain:
Eating disorders can lead to constantly obsessing about food and decrease concentration levels.Extreme hunger can create difficulties falling or staying asleep.
-I definitely struggled with falling asleep right now due to my hunger. Also, during class I would literally be searching on the internet for calories for my dinner plans with a friend (I actually did this in my science class) because I was worried that I would eat over the “amount” that I set for myself. I was constantly on my phone and just calculating calories.
Hence it is crucial for you to eat enough!

Don’t be afraid to seek support..your health is what matters the most. You want to pursue your passions and interests outside of exercise. You can acquire your life again, free from the constraints of food and exercise constantly swarming inside your head.
